Learning to be more thankful :)

So I thought I was thankful for all I had but recently that thankfulness was tested and now I wonder if I really was thankful for all the little things God does to brighten every day for me if I start it out being thankful to him for just being alive!

Enough of that... just wanted to share... now on to some fun pics :)

Our mexican petunias are loving their home under the bird house :)  I love looking at them each morning as they open up to the morning sun.
Here are some sprouts of wandering jew we took off a thriving plant and have been collecting trimmings and giving some away!!!  until we had enough to fill a pot!  Don't they look happy??!!!
I have been enjoying hand quilting and only have 13 spots left on my current project... and it is time to bind!  Yipee :)

No pics yet as it is so close to being done I want to show you it in all it's glory... 13 years in the finishing! :)

I do have a pic of a way to package your quilts... this is a tip from the newest edition of Love of Quilting....
I think Joyce has a great idea... esp if you aren't sure if the recipient doesn't know how to care for their quilt when not in use... they have a holder ready from scraps from the quilt!  Cool Beans!!!

Hope you are having a happy hump day and I am glad you are there for me!  And yes I am thankful for each of you!

Have a blessed week!

Welcome Cotton!

Ever since we moved to Florida and my dd lost her cat... she has wanted to rescue a cat to make it her own forever.  Every month she begs to "go see kitty's"... this from a 15 year old animal crazed teenager!  How could I say no???!!! lol

Well... I made a deal with my daughter that after her doctor's appointment we would go look at kitty's... and we all fell in love with this fellow :)

After a brushing and a bath he was good as new!  Soon he was named "Cotton" and it suits him well... he has gorgeous eyes too!
He is softspoken but is heard when he wants to be... he is declawed and fixed and had been at the shelter since June!  He was not far away from the end when we all came togetehr.

So far he hasn't tried to come out with the dogs... we have snapped at him when he tries to go outside the main living spaces.

Yes Cotton is a wonderful addition to our home.

Welcome Cotton Clower!

Have a blessed day :)

I have missed my bloggy friends :)

2 1/2 weeks is too long not to blog... in celebration of getting back to blog land I updated my cover :)

This is a recent pic of me in a shirt I really like :)
The smile took some convincing... to not blog about me and my life for 2 1/2 weeks is a lot!  I have been a two to three time a week blogger for over a year!

One highlight while I was off the grid was that we rescued a turtle from certain danger on the path he was on...
So we watered him up as he was shy and we couldn't tell if he was okay or not... but look at him!
We rehomed him to a neighborhood lake where he would be out of harms way!  Yay :)

And there is always good therapy to be found nearby at the beach...
I really do love being only 10 minute drive from this :)  That is my dd in the water playing!  She has a  blast playing in the waves and I have a blast watching her.

The aloe blooms are gone and no insects came to enjoy them... so soon this aloe will get trimmed and replanted somewhere it can enjoy itself and heal from the rough life it had before we came around.
I haven't stopped quilting... last week I rounded the 3rd corner on this beauty!
Here is one of my fave fabrics and some close up of my quilting :)

I really enjoy hand quilting...

If you enjoy quilting by hand instead of machine you should request entrance to the greatest show on earth... a worldwide group of handquilters are uniting on facebook.  The work I see there encourages me every day and there are answers to so many questions... Celebrate Hand Quilting request for entry as this is a closed group and you have to request entrance by clicking here you can see our header this week and request entrance to this group.  There are almost a thousand quilters right now that are members from all over the world!  It is so fun to show and tell hand quilting... some hand piece but all hand quilt what they show.  Most is much more refined that my quilting... lol!

If you are interested in a smaller low key group of weekend quilters by machine or by hand check out my facebook group called Patchwork Friends here... we have show and tell too but not daily ! lol  But it is a great group for newby and not so new quilters to get together and chat!

Please pray for me to be the decision maker that God and my family need during this time and I will try to write you at least twice a week from now on!

Thanks and have a blessed week!

What has been going on around here! Whoop !!!

I get one whoop today for reaching the SECOND  corner of the quilt I am hand quilting... it is a quilt a friend of mine had in the depths of her closet until she recently finished it and we pin basted it and for over a month now I have been handquilting to get to this point....
So this quilt will have 2 labels... this is one showing when it was started and by whom... she only wanted her first name on it :)  I plan to put my name and the year I finish quilting it (hopefully 2013!).

Meanwhile we have changed the kitchen a bit and have taken out part of the wall leading into the kitchen.. really opened it up to the house more...

Also we have taken down the wallpaper in the main bath and my honey is currently working on the drywall and mudding that needs to be done before the kids are let loose to paint it!  Yay :)

Hope you have a blessed weekend ... what do you have to whoop about ???

Playing catch up :)

Not with life... but with you my bloggy friends :)  Sorry I haven't posted in a while... we have been very busy and I am wrong in not sharing more but I guess we all need a break sometimes... check out this quote I found on my fb page today :)  Love Joyce Meyer!!!
So what has been keeping me so involved I didn't have time to share with you????

The aloe vera cactus is blooming again... I haven't alerted you as I wanted to see how it went...
We moved it over on the patio so it gets MORE direct sun as we keep it wet enough ... we thought the sun would help the blooms mature :)

See the blooms forming in this close up :)
While I was out I noticed a large bumble bee sucking up nectar from our mexican petunia bed :)

Oh how much fun I had...

But mainly I have been quilting!  Having so much fun... pics and an update on that next time :)

Have a blessed day!
