Happy mail from a blogging friend!

Earlier this week I got some HAPPY MAIL!!!  From a fellow blogger who is very accomplished and is very talented too... her name is Kathy Martin and she has Card-Blanc blog!  Check out her blog here!  I found Kathy's blog a few weeks into blogging and love her crisp clean creations... most of which are cards!!!  My fave :)

So I replied to one of her blogs after she gave away one of her creations and I didn't win to see if she would offer something like that again... she offered to send me some of her extras!!!!  Wowee!!!

So what did I get????  Lots of stuff ;)  First are some cute book marks my daughter immediately took as her own to share at school.... she is 14 ;)
And her favorite is the skeleton head because it reminds her of her favorite show "Bones"!
Then she sent me a cute Halloween card she had made that I had actually commented on in her blog how much I loved her design of folding down an edge... check it out!
LOVE the spider peeking out even if this pic is fuzzy... this one isn't!
And if you look carefully she has put some of her precious hand sewing on this project so I can be inspired to try this art of hand sewing on cards for embellishment!

Next up are some matchbooks she designed using Doodlebug papers!  They are filled with note paper for making little notes!!!  Bet my daughter will snag these but I have plans to add 1 each to the Boo hangers I made in this post or this post.
Also in this cute lot of loveliness are these cute gift bags... they are about the right size for a fun sized candy bar so I will get some and fill them up to give to best constumes!!!  We have a LOT of trick or treaters ;)
Then she even included some candy in the form of 3d stickers for me to add to my projects... check them out!!!
Finally, and my most precious thing... is a card she personally wrote in and signed!  How lucky am I??!!!!
It has a dried flower on the front of it and says "take note".  Inside she wrote me the most personal note just for me ;D

Do you have any friends you have made in blog land???  Do you enjoy meeting new people this way??  I have found several good friends through my blog that share similar interests... and now I think I have a hero in Kathy Martin!  She ROCKS!!!!

Here's hoping your weekend was and is crafty!

Change of pace... a little cross stitching!

Good morning all!  Well my honey is doing a side job and I am left to my own devices... you would think I would be crafting up a storm but with us trying to sell our house I just can't make much of a mess... and my craft table is neatly filled with Christmas cards I just don't have the motivation to finish until I can do it with my kids!  We had fun working on them together... now doing them alone is boring!  So.... I pulled out some overdue cross stitching I am working on for my bff's grand daughter!
I will use my own font for the name and birth date... like I did in the wedding announcement for my son and his wife earlier this year....
I like funky lettering and this project will be no different... while I was cross stitching I had a visitor!

My son that I made the cross stitch for???  he stopped by to say hi!!! (a 1 1/2 hour drive to say hi!)

Here he is with my daughter... I posted on fb that it was my tallest and shortest and I love them both!  He is 6'7" and she is 4'10".  My son wanted this shot too....  showing just how big his new truck is!  He loves to go mudding in it he says... he is a EMT student at present and works at the fire hall in 4 counties.
and while I was shooting pics my sweet Daisy decided to pose for me!  Notice her shock collar???  A necessary evil but she knows her boundaries and stays in the yard now... a very worthy investment in the safety of my best little puppy friend. ;)
Thanks for taking time out for me and I hope you will be inspired to try going a new path if you are stuck or at a stopping place...

Happy Crafting!

Uplifting palm tree card!

Today for the Paper Cabana I was asked to be inspired by a website... check that link out here!

So this is the picture that really made me feel happy!  Loved the tall palm trees on this poster!
So I decided to create my own and mine turned out to be an uplifting card in the end!
So in being asked to be inspired by a website, with many many choices, it is good to just browse... until you find something you like... I could have added more art deco pieces and I even cut out some dancing girls but they didn't make the final design...

After being inspired, try to figure out what exactly about that poster, picture, sketch, layout, et al that really impresses you and run with it... I was really inspired by the palm trees but couldn't imagine them on a card... I loved the blue sky and the sand was my take on the boardwalk.  So I added a little of that... the ocean is solid cardstock that I tore to give it a wavy edge and the scalloped "sand" is my interpretation of a boardwalk.  This is the foundation of the card and grounds it.

After the inspiration I laid it out on my gypsy using Life is a Beach.  Like this:
In doing this design I used the flip buttons located under the advanced tab and it is in the middle.  You can flip horizontally or vertically but you have to flip all of your design that is pre-grouped in the cart... I did that with the trees and with the palm fronds!  I wanted my trees to pop!...
You can see the vertical and horizontal flip buttons here!

Now it is time to lay out all your colors on your mat!  That looks like this...
In the end I had some spare parts... I decided not to keep them but be assured I do keep them a lot... the sand in my card is a prime example!
What do you do with your spare parts?  What is your design process like on a broad spectrum like this challenge?  Don't forget to go over to the Paper Cabana and play for a chance to win prizes!

Another way to win BLOG CANDY for OCTOBER!!!!

Good morning and I hope you are having a blessed day.

I am so excited to share some things with you... including another way to win blog candy besides playing in a challenge blog!

Although I have been blogging for a short time compared to others... about 6 months now actively.... I have learned a lot... today I want to share my next venture in life... I will be a CTMH consultant in January... my journey began in the spring when I found the Art Philosophy cartridge for my cricut on Ebay and bought it... I fell in love with the stamps AND the cartridge and immediately went to look for a CTMH rep.  I found one but she was not my style so... with God's help this time I found another consultant and she has inspired me to make this business my own.

Meet Tamra Pope.. see her blog here!
We have become dear friends in the process of getting to know each other and while she was visiting in TN from my dream state of Fla we got to spend a day together that totally ROCKED!  Yes we talked the business aspect but we also just enjoyed hanging out and getting to know each other after a month or more chatting on the phone most every day!  Yahoo!!!

I am so excited about the journey with CTMH I will begin in January and all my energy will go toward this end goal of being a great and enthusiastic CTMH Consultant....

What is CTMH you ask???  CTMH is Close to My Heart.  A company for scrapbooking and stamping with excellent tools and stamps that are clear all the way through to see what you are doing and where you are doing it!!!  They have 2 cartridges for the cricut that are full of loveliness too!  They have been around since 1989 have designer papers and cardstock and lots of cool embellishments too!

I am having a party this month... if you place a CTMH order with me (just email me here and I will send you an invite to place an order for my party through Tamra Pope!) in October 2012 you will earn more in my blog candy give away!!!  YAY!  Check out the catalog online HERE!

So faithful readers who made it this far don't have to play at the paper cabana if you don't want to but entries are still available for that.

So to condense this info... go to my blog candy give away post here.  Post your fave winter paper craft... follow my blog by EMAIL... play at the paper cabana if you like for more entries OR/AND make a CTMH order with me by October 31, 2012 by emailing me to ask for the official invite so I know you placed an order.  THAT IS IT!!!!  CTMH orders are 1 entry per $10.00 spent in for $ retail sales.  If you spend less than $10.00 you still get an entry but if you spend $50.00 you get a $18.00 stamp set of the month for $5.00 ... a huge savings... and you get 5 entries!  Yahoo!!!!  Questions???  Please post them below so all can see my responses too!

You may email me your addy as a blog reply with your full email in the reply or email me privately with your email addy here.

Have a blessed day and happy blog candy winning!!!

Theme Challenge ... Dress Up!

Hello everyone and a special hello if you found me at the Paper Cabana... If you haven't been there go get inspired right here!

Today we are playing DRESS UP!  I am dressing up Christmas Cards with my new Create a Critter 2 cartridge!!!!

They started like this being designed on my Gypsy ... check out that post here!
Then I cut out all the elements as below!

Then I dressed that card right up and made it BEAUTIFUL!
I used my Xyron sticker maker 5" to get adhesive on the joy and the wreath... stuck them in place on my window card that was made on my gypsy for my cricut like in this post.
After the layers were glued together I embellished with stickles and diamond dust.  Look how the diamond dust stuck to the wreath.. it looks adorned in snow!  I added wet embossing to the joy with snowflake pattern and dry embossing then inked the wreath with some CTMH New England Ivy!

Hope this card inspires you to make some for those close to you this year!  Everyone loves a nice Holiday card!  :)

May the Joy of the Season be with you as you show us your dressed up items ;)

I plan to enter this in several challenges including ABC Challenge Blog by Patty Gorka!

Another 3d BOO and more!!!

Good morning my blogging friends... Today I have some upcoming projects for you to take a sneak peak at... and this cute door hanger I finally finished around all the showings of our home!  11 in 10 days!!!  Hopefully it sells soon with this kind of traffic ;)

The cute "Spooky" stamp came in a pack with the jewels from Studio G.  The paper is Doodlebug on the pumpkin and some cs I had in my stash for the hanger itself.  When I did my other door hanger here I made 2 out of one sheet... so I just had to put this one together!

I used the Create a Critter 2 cart for the pumpkin like the pic below
but hid countour the piece of candy for this one!  I didn't cut out the back shadow only the pumpkin face and his backing... then I added stickles to the eyes and inked a Boo I had cut out of the same paper as the hanger with Slate CTMH ink to give it a little pop!
Isn't he cute!  He is safely holding M & M's for the receiver of this booing item!

Next up are Christmas cards!  Here is where I am at... it is all cut
And what are the rest of my family doing while I am busy crafting???
Seeing who has the best John Deere attitude of course!  My dd and my honey are in competition!
It is cool and rainy today but it was breezy and warm the day I got this pic :)

Have a blessed crafting Friday!

You have been Booed door hanger!

What says Boo more than a ghost!
Welcome back to me... been busy this week showing our house (we are trying to sell it) and haven't had time to chat with you!  I have missed you though ;)

So for inspiration today at The Paper Cabana I have a great door hanger for you to put on your own doors... or as I will do "BOO" your friends and neighbors!!!
So pull out your Art Philosophy and Create a Critter 2 carts and lets play!

First I cut the door hangers... now they will be bigger if you only cut one but then you have paper left over so I made them a tad smaller and set it up with my gypsy to cut out 2!
I will post the second one later this week.  Today I wanted to focus on the ghost.  I chose a neutral light gray for my background as I wanted the ghost and the boo to really pop off the page!

Next I cut my elements...
Then scored each box that I had eliminated the fold lines on... by looking back at the book... added some red Tacky tape to make sure it held well...
Put the elements from the second page together... the poor haunted house didn't cut our right... luckily I didn't have room for it so... live and learn moment!  lol
I sponged on some CTMH Slate ink behind the ghost and added an action wobble to the ghost to make him float around!  Want info on how to make your own action wobble?  Check out this post!

I added some fun size M & M's and now we are ready to Boo our neighbors!
Hope this post has inspired you that anyone can make something 3d... use what you have and have fun!

Monochromatic Challenge Card!

Welcome from the Paper Cabana... if you didn't start there and want to check them out click here!

This weeks challenge is making something monochromatic.  So I did!!!  Lucky me my bff Brandy needed a birthday card for her sister... so she came over and we got creative... here she is with my Daisy Mae!

And here is the card we made!

First we picked the color... PURPLE ... it is her sisters fave color.  I pulled out my purple colored paper bin and we chose colors of cs that we liked and that coordinated with each other.

Next we played in my stamp stash and picked some CTMH and HOTP stamp sets.  Then it was over to the gypsy to design our card ...
Using the CTMH Art Philosophy cart we picked out the base that she liked... I "hide contour" on the hash line it cuts at the fold line... that is why it is light gray.. it doesn't cut if you hide it.  The we made 3 flowers in the upper left hand corner that coordinate with CTMH stamp set that comes with the Art Philosophy cart.  Each layer of the flower has a different pattern stamped on to the electronically die cut image!  Isn't that cool!!!!  Okay back to designing the card now .. hehe... In the upper right hand corner is a place for our sentiment.  This gets changed later and I will explain why...

So now it is time to cut... get the mat ready and fire up the Cricut.  Look at the beautiful purple and lavendar tones...
So here is the story... the sentiment stamp we wanted to use to wish her sister a Happy Birthday was too large for the size we cut out of the upper right lavender glitter paper.  Then the stamp smudged on the glitter cardstock so we finally cut one the size that a)fit the stamp b) that we liked with the card and c) was still in a lavender shade!

We put it all together after stamping the flowers with SU's Lavender Lace and the sentiment in Megan Elizabeth's Lush deep purple.  Then she added "May this be your grandest year yet" inside and whaalaaah!

But how to put it together... what layout with these elements looks best... we decided on this loosely...

then thanks to some zots glue dots and my handy dandy ATG gun we got the elements in place in their permanent home!
Love the button on the front with the hemp tied through it too!  What do you think?

Do you like playing with monochromatic projects?  Hope you play along with us this week at The Paper Cabana!

Craft on and have a blessed day!
