Christmas 2014 Review...

Just a few days until it will be 2015... and our lives here at Casa Del Loro are changing...
Yep... check it out.. I am getting a sewing room !!!

You see my boys...
Mike on the left and DL on the right... moved out a week ago!  I have been in shock actually... but am now quite happy that part of my Christmas was a redo what initially was a dining room we turned into a bedroom when we bought the house for DL to use... and now it is turning into a lively, warm, and inviting space....

The room has a large window on the other side of it... and it is perfect for my honey to flourish with our Featherweight business...
But let's take a closer look at his work table... we had a modern metal utility desk with a glass top that was there but had no personality... in the garage we had a treadle from the late 1800's that was not repairable... so he pressure washed and painted the base and now check out his table!
So slowly the changes in Casa Del Loro (our name for our home) are calming... And I have so much to share from our first real Christmas as a family this year since our tragic year in 2008... it was remarkable the healing we have all done.

Here was our Christmas tree Christmas morning...
Chock full of presents and a tree skirt I finished on Christmas Eve NIGHT! lol  ... so I decided to put it on the tree after the presents were all opened in a few hours...
So Christmas morning we sang Happy Birthday to Jesus and recognized the importance of the real meaning of the holiday to our family.

Then all opened their presents.. since we are all adult/teens this consisted of mainly gift card exchanges... I made cookies for the boys to take back to their apartment and got them some rubbermaid containers for refrigerating leftovers and they were VERY thankful! lol  Perspective is all in how much YOU pay for it sometimes as a 20 something couple of guys! :)  My honey got practical gifts and a new beard trimmer he was desperately in need of to easy the trimming job.  My daughter got this HUGE bear...
And I got the most beautiful quilt shop building...

 Here is a side view...
And here is a view of the quilt shop in it's new home :)
It will be a nightlight in the living room at night when it is pitch black dark in the house and be a beautiful addition to our decor I think :)

I also got a great rotating cutting mat I had really wanted but couldn't pay the price myself! lol  Thanks to a sneaky bestie I am happily using it in my quest to make these Batik Hollyhock flowers...

So from all of us...

And from me especially...

Hope Your Holiday Season is full of positive times and memories to last your lifetime too!

I have quilty projects piling up around me so stay tuned with me into 2015 and see what all I have planned :)

  2. How cool, you got a rotating cutting mat and I am going to buy one with my gift certificate my daughter bought for me. We always seem to think alike. :) I like the treadle table. I was thinking of finding one to use as an end table. Love those new blocks.
